Kometsoft (M) Sdn Bhd (“Kometsoft”) was established to promote an open source technology back in year 2003. During that time, open source was an alternative to the complexity of java programming and the pricey of Microsoft’s products. The establishment was coincides with Malaysian Government encouragement to opt for the open source technology and the policy helped the Company’s rapid development since then.

As demand for open source solutions continued to increase especially from Malaysian Government Ministries and Agencies, Kometsoft has developed a Rapid Application Development Tool and named it KS Platform. KS Platform can speed up the web-application development period, a user friendly development tool based on PHP, MySQL and Apache Web Server. Demand for KS Platform contributed to Kometsoft’s market expansion and in just a short period of time nearly half of the Government Ministries became our customers.

The uniqueness of KS Platform helped us clinched a banking job from Maybank Berhad with assistance from Heitech Padu Berhad. However, for banking solution we utilized J2EE and Oracle. We developed a loan tracking solution and called it Loan Documentation Tracking System (LDTS), a platform that helps bank officers and panel lawyers to communicate online and track the status of document preparation for loan applications. The solution benefits not only to the bank but also to the panel lawyers and therefore sparked for the solution enhancement to cover Litigation Process and Security Document Management.

The rapid growth in information technology drives us to do a lot of research in open source technology and new web technology. And big prospect of Rich Internet Application (RIA) look attractive to us and we decided to apply to all our application development. At the same time, Kometsoft actively promoting RIA especially Adobe Flex through seminars and technology updates to public and government agencies.
